"The Great One" Wayne Gretzky files a lawsuit against former business partner

Wayne Gretzky AKA "The Great One" will always be known as the best hockey player of all time. While there's no denying his greatness on the ice, he's also proven to be quite the savvy business man. The legend has launched a successful line of wine and spirits, but he's also had a few ventures that have gone belly-up...
According to reports, Wayne Gretzky has just filed a lawsuit against his former business partner, Veera Mahajan, whom Gretzky claims filed a meritless lawsuit against him in 2022 in order to score a quick payday, according to TMZ.
Back in 2022, Wayne Gretzky helped lauched the "OMG" gum brand. In short, the premise of the product was a weight-loss gum designed to combat over-eating disorders, in turn helping people lose stubborn weight.
As per TMZ, Wayne Gretzky also endorsed the product, claiming the gum helped his lose over 35 pounds.

Here's where things get a little spicy...
As per New York Post, Mahajan accused Gretzky of admitting that he lied about the weight loss and that it caused the business to struggle, suing him for fraud and seeking unspecified damages. But Mahajan last year filed to dismiss the case after Gretzky fought it.
Gretzky denied lying about the weight loss and claimed Mahajan only filed the lawsuit because she thought Gretzky would quickly settle «for millions in order to avoid potential negative publicity,» according to the report.
Now, the former hockey player is fighting back legally, pressing for malicious prosecution and seeking unspecified damages.
This just goes to show you that the world of business can get extremely nasty.
It's important to choose your partners extremely carefully, and I'm sure Wayne will be will cross his t's the next time he decides to open a new venture...
