MTV cancels a popular show after more than 30 seasons
It's the end of an era at MTV. After more than a decade on air, the network has officially decided to cancel «Ridiculousness,» one of its longest-running and most recognizable shows.
The series - hosted by Rob Dyrdek, Steelo Brim, and Lauren «Lolo» Wood - will conclude after more than 900 episodes spanning over 30 seasons.
Sources say the decision came straight from MTV's top executives and took the production team by surprise.
The current season will be the show's last. Although filming has stopped, previously produced episodes will continue to air through 2026, giving fans a bit more time to say goodbye to a program that defined MTV's schedule for more than a decade.
Rob Dyrdek and his crew close the curtain on a pop-culture staple
Premiering in 2011, Ridiculousness quickly became a cornerstone of MTV programming.
The series showcased viral internet clips of fails, falls, and funny mishaps, all delivered with Dyrdek's signature humor and the lively banter between the hosts.
Even after production ends, MTV plans to keep reruns on the air, and several seasons will remain available for streaming on Paramount+, ensuring that the show's legacy of laughter continues.
The cancellation follows the Paramount-Skydance merger, which has led to thousands of layoffs and a strategic overhaul across the company.
Executives say MTV will be «reimagined for the future,» focusing on new creative voices and refreshed programming formats.
A major turning point for the show came in March 2023, when Chanel West Coast - who co-hosted for 12 years - departed after 30 seasons.
Her energy, humor, and unmistakable laugh became one of the show's defining trademarks.
For MTV, the end of Ridiculousness marks more than a programming shift. It symbolizes a broader transformation in entertainment, as audiences migrate from traditional television to digital and streaming platforms where viral content now thrives.
