In early June 2019, Lil Nas X came out to his sister and father and he felt "the universe was signalling him to do so", despite his uncertainty whether his fans would stick by him or not. On June 30, 2019, the last day of Pride Month, Lil Nas X came out publicly as gay -- a decision that takes an incredible amount of bravery. Now that Lil Nas X has been liberated to express his true self, he doesn't give a damn what people think of him anymore.
Lil Nas X has always been able to release huge hits. From Old Town Road, Panini, and Rodeo, the rapper has delivered timeless hits for the masses to enjoy.
During a recent interview, Lil Nas X delivered a strong message, expressing that he doesn't care what people think of him anymore.
Lil Nas X breaks it down
According to Lil Nas X' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>People Magazine, the "Industry Baby" performer opened up about his new era - and why he no longer feels the need to please the masses.
"I wanna be myself more than ever this era," Lil Nas X, 25, tells PEOPLE exclusively. "I want to be completely free out there, only doing the things that I wanna do. If I do not want to do it, I'm not doing it."
He continues, "If I don't want be there, I'm not gonna be there. I think it's more important than ever to really stand in myself and my power and recognize where I'm taking my energy and where I don't want to take it."
"When I started to let go of it more, I would still hold onto to it. And now I'm here and I'm just... I'm showing up as me. I'm existing," he says.
How refreshing!
With his newfound confidence, the Hollywood dreamboy is heading into 2025 with his middle fingers in the air, not caring what anyone thinks.
