Jazz Legend Roy Ayers tragically passes away at age 84
The world is mourning the tragic loss of jazz legend Roy Ayers, who passed away at the age of 84.
Roy Ayers, a talented jazz vibraphonist recognized for his smash hit
"Everybody Loves the Sunshine" died following a tough fight with an illness...as reported by his family.
While the exact nature of his illness is mysterious, his family released on official statement on his X platform (formally known as twitter).
Here is the official statement below:
"He lived a beautiful 84 years and will be sorely missed. His family ask that you respect their privacy at this time, a celebration of Roy's life will be forthcoming."
Ayers, a pioneer in the jazz industry served as an inspiration to many modern day superstars.
His music really started to reach the masses with his work on the Pam Grier Blaxploitation film, "Coffy." He went on to drop "Everybody Loves the Sunshine" in 1976.
