An original Star Wars actor has tragically lost his life
Breaking news in the world of Star Wars as Clive Revill, widely remembered as the actor who originally voiced Star Wars villain Emperor Palpatine in Empire Strikes Back has tragically lost his life. Clive's death hits home for all Star Wars enthusiasts, and today is definitely a sad day to those who loved the series.
Now for those who aren't familiar with the Star Wars saga,
Clive Revill played the role as emperor Palpatine, or otherwise known as Darth Sidious.
Darth Sidious, born Sheev Palpatine and also simply known as The Emperor, was a male human Dark Lord of the Sith and Emperor of the Galactic Empire, with his reign lasting from 19 BBY to 4 ABY.
He was an evil character, who represented one of the most important roles in the Sith domain.
Clives voice was iconic to say the least.
Clive's ability to use his voice in a chilling way brought incredible depth to the character, sending shivers down our spines with his eerie, menacing laugh.
According to
People Magazine, Revill died on March 11 at a care facility in Sherman Oaks, Calif., after a battle with dementia, as his daughter Kate Revill told The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday, March 26.
While the exact nature of his death his yet to be disclosed, this is undoubtedly a significant loss for the Star Wars fanbase.
Clive lived a full life. His career was abundant, even extending far beyond the reaches of the Star Wars saga.
Before his death, Clive highlighted the significance of the Star Wars series, highlighting the magnitude of it's brilliance.
"It's just seven words, but those words encompass the absolute idea," Revill told that outlet of his small, yet pivotal role in Star Wars history. He referred to the franchise as "one of the most extraordinary ideas that's ever come out of somebody's head" in that interview and said he enjoyed delivering those lines to fans at Star Wars conventions over the years.
Regardless, Clive will always be remembered for playing a huge roll in all our lives, and we wish to extend our deepest sympathies to all those impacted by this horrible loss.
Clive was 94 years old - RIP.
