Tragedy struck Walt Disney World again this week as a second death in just seven days was reported on the resort's property.
On Tuesday morning, Oct. 21, an unidentified man was found unresponsive at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
According to local reports, emergency services were called to the scene at around 7:30 a.m. after a «person down» alert was issued.
The man, believed to be in his 60s, suffered a medical episode at the campground's Cottontail Curl loop - a section known for its tents and pop-up camper vans. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Authorities from the Orange County Sheriff's Office confirmed that there were no signs of foul play and that the investigation is being treated as a medical emergency.
Two deaths in one week raise concern among Walt Disney World park visitors
This marks the second reported fatality at Walt Disney World within a week. Just days earlier, on Oct. 14, another guest, identified as 39-year-old Summer Equitz, was found dead at Disney's Contemporary Resort, located near the Magic Kingdom park. That case also remains under investigation.
Adding to the series of unfortunate events, a woman in her 60s died earlier this month at Disneyland in California after riding the Haunted Mansion attraction. Officials in Anaheim confirmed that she suffered a medical emergency during the ride.
While Disney resorts welcome millions of guests each year without major incidents, these recent events have prompted questions about health and safety procedures on the properties, particularly for older visitors or those with underlying medical conditions.
As of now, officials emphasize that the recent deaths appear unrelated and involve natural causes.
Still, the back-to-back tragedies have cast a somber tone over the usually joyful atmosphere of Disney's parks and resorts.
