Now if you live under a rock and don't know the name Kelly Clarkson -- Kelly was 20 when she became the first-ever American Idol winner back in 2002.
After the talent show concluded, she went on to become one of the hottest singers in the industry. In terms of popularity, she is second to Carrie Underwood regarding musical success, but she has also become a mega-star thanks to her television roles on The Voice and The Kelly Clarkson Show.
Although she became one of the most successful singers in the music industry, her rise to the top came with blood, sweat, and tears.
In a recent interview, Kelly Clarkson admitted a hard truth about her rise to fame -- claiming she still struggled financially long after winning the coveted talent show.

According to People Magazine, During an episode of Kylie Kelce's Not Gonna Lie podcast on Thursday, March 27, the "Since U Been Gone" hitmaker, 42, revealed that while people may have believed she was a "millionaire" after winning the talent competition series in 2002, she was still struggling.
"After I won Idol, people were like, 'Oh, she's a millionaire,'" Clarkson recalled. "No. I wasn't. Like, they say 'million dollar' contract. No I didn't. They said I'd get a car. No. I didn't. Like, I didn't get any of that."
She added: "We were playing, like, festivals in the middle of cow s--- plugging in all our gear. You know what I'm saying?
That's crazy!
Even after winning the show, she had to put in the hours to cement herself as one of the all-time greats.
It just goes to show that even winning the biggest talent shows in the world doesn't guarantee success. You need to earn it -- and that's what she did.
